Within the project “Creating the structure for training Professional parents” on July 12, 2017, we gave a workshop “Training professional parents” for psychologists of 12 branches of the Kaliningrad Child and Family resource centre. They accompany substitute families and train those who want to become foster parents in Svetly, Baltiysk, Slavsk, Yantarny, Nesterov, Mamonovo and Kaliningrad. The psychologist of the Center Elena Romanenko told about one of the methods of work with potential and adoptive parents based on the attachment theory. She highlighted the need to develop attachment in a substitute family and described the peculiarities of its formation in children from disadvantaged families and in children who lost their parents at different ages. This technique is widely used in Germany and England, and now in Russia. It has already proved its effectiveness for any form of child-parent relations.
The workshop participants highly appreciated the presented methodology and noted that it can be used along with other techniques from Russian family psychologists.
